A chunk is missing from my side wall, let me know whether to keep or pitch the tire.?
So i bought some nice rims and tires, and the tires are low profile yokohamas, but I noticed that the one has a flap of rubber coming off of the sidewall, that can be lifted up to reveal a chunk out of the tire, maybe it just looks worse than it is, but it isnt anything to shrug off, especially how fast i drive sometimes on the highway. So what i did was i took a tire repair kit, and sealed it up with some tire rubber repair crap (it smells and looks like modeling glue) so the flap is down tight. I am just wondering whether you guys think it is safe to continue using this tire. Some important things to consider are that there is no bulge, the tires are holding air consistently with the other 3 tires, and there is no shimmy (ive taken them up to 65 mph so far). But mainly, there was no inner wire showing, it was just black rubber under the flap of rubber. Also this was a private sale on slightly used tires, so NO WARRANTY, I dont want that answer. Let me know, especially if you are a "tire expert".
